Dishoom is opening its eighth London restaurant this October, taking over The Hop Exchange at 24 Southwark Street, directly opposite Borough Market. It is one of the most anticipated London openings of the autumn.
The new site
The London Bridge restaurant will be Dishoom’s eighth in the capital, joining siblings in Shoreditch, Kensington, King’s Cross, Carnaby, the City, Battersea and Canary Wharf. The Hop Exchange is a grand Victorian building moments from Borough Market, putting the new site at the heart of one of London’s great food neighbourhoods.
What to expect
If you know Dishoom, you know the format. The Bombay cafes serve all-day dining inspired by the old Irani cafes of Bombay, from the famous bacon naan roll and keema pau at breakfast through to biryanis, grills and curries later in the day. The drinks list leans into Indian-inspired cocktails alongside chai, lassis and proper filter coffee.
Each Dishoom is designed around a different Bombay story, so expect the London Bridge site to have its own distinct interior narrative while keeping the warm, bustling atmosphere the brand is known for.
Why it matters
Dishoom remains one of London’s great restaurant success stories, with queues still forming at peak times more than a decade after the first Covent Garden site opened. A new opening is always an event, and the Borough Market location means you can combine dinner with a wander through the market halls.
Booking opens ahead of the launch, and weekend slots at new Dishoom sites tend to go fast. If you want to be among the first through the door, keep an eye on their website for reservations.
