Bistro Sable Brings French Bistro Dining to The Princess of Shoreditch

Bistro Sable has opened its second London site as a limited residency at The Princess of Shoreditch, bringing classic French bistro cooking to one of East London’s best-loved pubs.

The residency

The French bistro has taken over the upstairs restaurant at The Princess of Shoreditch, 76-78 Paul Street, for the rest of the year, following the success of its original Islington restaurant. The 32-seat dining room has been given a light refit with retro posters and French bistro-style interiors, creating a proper Parisian feel above the pub.

What to eat

The Shoreditch menu is a shorter version of the Islington offering, built around bistro classics. Expect dishes such as pate de campagne, jambon persille, rotisserie chicken with vin jaune sauce, and a proper jambon-beurre baguette. Downstairs, the pub has introduced French-inspired snacks including pate en croute, so you can graze at the bar before heading up for dinner.

Why go now

Residencies are by nature temporary, and this one runs only through the end of the year. If you have been meaning to try Bistro Sable’s Islington site but never made it across town, the Shoreditch outpost brings the same cooking to the City fringe. Book ahead for weekend evenings, when the 32 seats fill quickly.

The Princess of Shoreditch itself is worth the trip regardless, a handsome corner pub with a strong drinks list. Pair a glass of something French downstairs with dinner upstairs for a proper night out.
