It was not just another night in the Turkish league. It was the night Mohamed Salah announced his return in style. In his first big match wearing the Trabzonspor shirt, the Egyptian superstar turned Papara Park into his own stage, and his performance was so good that it pushed Thierry Henry to speak up with a clear message for Liverpool. The problem was never Salah himself.
The King takes over Papara Park
Last Saturday, Trabzonspor produced a stunning result in the sixth round of the 2026/2027 Turkish Süper Lig, thrashing historic rivals Galatasaray 4-0 at home.
Mohamed Salah, captain of Egypt, was the undoubted star of the night. He produced an exceptional performance that nobody will forget, scoring his first hat-trick in the Turkish league and also providing the assist for the second goal. In other words, he had a direct role in all four of his team’s goals.
Henry reacts after the Galatasaray masterclass
A display like that was never going to pass quietly. French football legend and Premier League analyst Thierry Henry was full of praise for what the Egyptian Pharaoh produced, in comments reported by Turkish newspaper Sabah.
Henry said it is remarkable to score your first hat-trick in the Turkish league against one of the country’s biggest clubs in Galatasaray, adding that the club’s name and achievements deserve respect.
A pointed message aimed at Liverpool
Henry went beyond simply praising the performance. He also fired a direct and pointed message at his former club Arsenal and their rivals Liverpool, strongly defending the Egyptian star.
He concluded that it is clear Mohamed Salah was never the source of Liverpool’s problems. There may have been disagreements inside the club’s management, but the issue certainly had nothing to do with the King of Egypt.
