Mayfair is getting a new live-fire steakhouse on Wednesday 14 October, when Cordelia’s opens at 6 Clarges Street, on the former L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon site. It promises 80 covers, white tablecloths, red leather banquettes and an agave-led bar with resident DJs late on.
The cooking
Everything runs through an open theatre kitchen with a front-row view of the charcoal flames. The chef is Jordi Sebastianelli, formerly of Le Petit Beefbar, who is ageing British beef in-house alongside Galician and Finnish Sashi cuts. The signature order is the 45-day dry-aged British rib-eye.
What to expect
The room is pitched as classic Mayfair with a late-night pulse: serious about the beef, relaxed about the evening, with DJs keeping the bar alive after dinner service. A preview week earlier this month offered half-price food to early bookers, and demand for the opening fortnight is expected to be strong.
Cordelia’s joins a crowded field of high-end London steakhouses, but the live-fire theatre and the pedigree of the site make it one of the most watched openings of October.
